Globus Communication Overview
What ports does Globus Connect Server need open?
Globus uses a block of static addresses, within the Amazon AWS cloud, for communication during a file transfer. The address block is 54.237.254.192/29.
In addition, Globus uses some Amazon Elastic Load Balancing (ELB) services. The IP addresses of these services can change, depending on the ELB behavior. These services include:
- downloads.globus.org - Used for downloading packages from the Globus repository
- auth.globus.org - Used to communicate with the Globus service via its REST API
More information on the addresses, ports, and reason for their use can be found on here: https://docs.globus.org/resource-provider-guide/#open-tcp-ports_section
